The Finance Ministry Seeks to Abolish Mandatory Audits for Personal Funds

The Russian Ministry of Finance has drafted amendments to the law “On Auditing Activity” that would remove the requirement for mandatory audits of financial statements for personal and international personal funds.

Currently, such funds must undergo an audit if their annual income exceeds RUB 3 million. The proposal suggests retaining mandatory audits only for public benefit foundations, while abolishing the requirement for private personal funds in order to reduce excessive regulation.

The initiative aims to increase the attractiveness of personal funds by lowering administrative costs and preserving confidentiality. According to the Ministry, eliminating the audit requirement will not weaken oversight, as supervision is carried out by the tax authorities and Rosfinmonitoring.
