The Federal Tax Service (FTS) has reminded that tax declarations cannot be submitted via “Electronic Registered Letters” from Russian Post.

In its letter dated September 3, 2025, No. АБ-4-19/8039@, the FTS emphasizes that, under the law, individual taxpayers may submit their declarations only through the following channels:

  • In person or through a representative at the tax office (IFNS).
  • Through a multifunctional center (MFC).
  • By postal mail with an inventory of enclosures.
  • In electronic form, including:
  • via the Unified Portal of State Services (gosuslugi.ru);
  • via the personal taxpayer account on the FTS website.

Tax legislation does not provide for submission via “Electronic Registered Letters.”

AT recommends being careful when choosing the submission method if filing tax declarations independently.
