The Bank of Russia Allowed the Use of Funds from “Type C” Accounts in Asset Exchange Transactions
Pursuant to the Decision of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia dated July 31, 2025, amendments were made to the rules governing the use of funds from Type “C” accounts.
Starting from July 31, 2025, funds from a Type “C” bank account opened for a non-resident may also be debited in the following cases:
- A transfer of funds from a non-resident to a resident is permitted if they have entered into a transaction under which the resident acquires securities and the non-resident receives property or rights located abroad, the disposal of which is restricted due to unfriendly actions of foreign states. Such a transaction must be carried out based on an authorization from the Government Commission;
- A transfer of funds from a non-resident to a resident is permitted if these funds represent dividends previously paid to the non-resident and credited to the Type “C” account, provided that there is an authorization for the payment of such dividends to the non-resident issued in accordance with the Decrees of the President of the Russian Federation.
