Russian court lifts arrest on shares of Raiffeisen Bank International’s Russian subsidiary
A Russian court has lifted the ban on transactions involving the shares of Raiffeisen Bank International’s Russian subsidiary.
The decision paves the way for the Austrian group to complete its exit from Russia, a process the bank has been working on for over three years.
Context:
- The shares of Raiffeisen Bank were seized in June 2024 in a dispute with the company “Rasperia” (case No. A21-10987/2024).
- In January, the court ordered the bank to pay the plaintiff approximately €2 billion for a failed transaction to acquire shares of Strabag.
- In May, the Central Bank of Russia wrote off €1.87 billion from Raiffeisen Bank’s account.
- Earlier, the appellate and cassation courts had denied the bank’s requests to lift the interim measures.
