Russia expands pension rights to include posthumously born IVF children

Starting 2025, children conceived via IVF after their father’s death will be eligible for survivor pensions. The bill was submitted to the State Duma on May 26 following a Constitutional Court ruling.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Birth occurring 300+ days after father’s death
  • Court-established paternity

Previously, such children were denied pensions as they weren’t legally recognized as dependents of the deceased.
