OFAC Launches Portal for Sanctions Reconsideration Requests

The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced the creation of the “Sanctions Reconsideration Portal”, an electronic platform for submitting applications to review sanctions designations.

The new service, established under the provisions of §501.807 of Title 31 OFAC Regulations, will allow both individuals and entities listed on sanctions rosters to submit delisting requests via an online form, with the option to attach supporting documents.

OFAC emphasizes that the system is solely intended to streamline the technical process and does not alter the existing evaluation criteria for applications. The agency estimates that approximately 300 petitions will be submitted annually through the portal, with each application taking up to 3 hours to prepare.
