Bank of Russia Recommends Enhanced Scrutiny of Large Cash Deposits

The Bank of Russia has advised credit institutions to pay closer attention to transactions involving large cash deposits by clients. According to the regulator, such transactions may be used for money laundering or other unlawful purposes.

Banks are encouraged to conduct daily monitoring of these transactions and identify risk indicators for both individual and corporate customers. At the same time, the enhanced scrutiny should not affect clients whose source of funds, financial standing, and business reputation have already been adequately documented by the bank.

The Bank of Russia noted that these recommendations are aligned with FATF standards and are intended to improve transparency regarding the origin of funds.
