US suspended DTT with Russia

The US announced suspension of certain provisions of the Double Taxation Treaty with Russia (“DTT“), previously suspended by the Presidential Decree N 585 dated 08.08.2023, from August 16, 2024.
Income earned from August 16, 2024, is subject to taxation under US and Russian legislation respectively, which in most cases will result in taxation in both countries.
However, the provision on elimination of double taxation has not been suspended, which allows to offset the tax withheld in the US against personal income tax payable in the Russian Federation.
