Russian Tax Service will automize identification of Russian residents

By the end of 2025, the FTS plans to introduce a system for automatic identification of tax or currency residents of Russia, using information from border control authority.
This system will enable the FTS to promptly obtain reliable data on the status of individuals as Russian tax residents and monitor their compliance with tax legislation.
Currently, in order to identify tax residents, the FTS requests the individuals to provide copies of their passports with stamps confirming border crossings.
