Rules for taking jewelry across the customs border for people leaving Russia
DATE: September 14, 2023 | AUTHOR: AT
The law allows to export without declaration of gold and precious stones in the form of jewelry worth up to $25,000. The export of diamonds worth no more than $75,000 is also allowed. However, if jewelry is exported for personal use, such items are allowed to be exported without declaration and payment of customs duties.
We recommend declaring temporarily exported expensive personal items and jewelry in order to identify them when importing them back, so that you will not have to pay customs duties when returning to Russia.
The customs declaration must be filled out by citizens over 16 years of age. Customs declaration can be filled out before crossing the border or in advance by downloading the form on the website of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
