New ways of notifying of a foreign citizenship or residence permit notification

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation prepared a draft order stipulating that Russian citizen has a right to submit a notification regarding the acquisition of foreign citizenship or residence permit to a Russian embassy or consulate in any country before visiting Russia.
Currently, Russians who have obtained foreign citizenship or residence permit do not have an obligation to submit such notification until they visit Russia.
According to the draft order, Russians will have the right to submit the relevant notification to a diplomatic mission or consular office of the Russian Federation abroad within 60 days from the date of obtaining citizenship or residence permit.
According to the draft, this procedure is scheduled to come into force from 26 October 2023.
