New ruling of RF Constitutional Court regarding the seizure of public officer’s property

The Constitutional Court confirmed that seizure of a public officer’s (or his/her family members’) property having value exceeding their lawful declared income is in compliance with Russian Constitution. The Constitutional Court also stated that proceeds from sale of such property may also be so seized. The public officer, however, shall be allowed with an opportunity to prove that such a property was acquired on a lawful income.
