Bank Freedom Finance Kazakhstan changes name, triggers Russian client filing obligations

On 20th of May 2024 JSC Bank Freedom Finance Kazakhstan changed its name to «Freedom Bank Kazakhstan» Joint Stock Company.
All the account holders who are Russian tax residents (i.e spend more 183 days in Russia in 2024) had to submit a notification to the Russian tax authorities regarding the change of the account details until 20/06/2024.
If you haven’t submitted the notification within the time limits Russian Tax Authorities may charge a penalty in the amount of 1 000 – 1 500 RUB. A penalty for non-submission is up to 5 000 RUB.
