According to Mass media by December 2017 only advocates will be admitted to represent clients in Russian courts. Law firm associates and private practitioners will be forced to obtain an advocate status. However in-house counsels will be allowed to represent in court their employers (and group companies). A simplified procedure for obtaining an advocate status will be provided for lawyers having work experience, including an examination of the advocacy law only. The details of the reform are still under discussion and the final decision on the matter is pending.
